It’s unclear how Marie Matthews and Werner Dornfield met, but they married in 1925 and shared a love for comedic commentary. In the Robert Lund Memorial Library, there is a book of poems attributed to Marie, on topics ranging from magic, to elections, holidays, and Butzer Boy, the cockatoo that she and Dorny bought in Australia. Marie had columns in regional newspapers, and "Poetess' Corner" in Tops magazine. Here is a selection
